Cycling in Europe doesn’t get much better than the famous climbs, clear blue skies, vineyards, lavender fields and the pro riders favourite ‘home town’.  Ticking off the two most iconic climbs of the cycling world – Alpe d’Huez and Ventoux is a must do and we’ll top it off with a few days in the pro-rider haven of Girona.

8 Aug 2024 - 21 Aug 2024

The 2024 SB Ultimate Tour itinerary, locations and rides:

Five nights in arguably the most famous cycling village on the planet – Alpe d’Huez.

What better way to start an Ultimate biking tour, than by heading straight up to your accommodation on the slopes of the mythical mountain.  We settle in for a fantasic few days of alpine exploring, including the famous climbs of the Tour de France and the not so famous climbs that we classify as the hidden gems of the area.  So often these secret hidden gems are overlooked with a one or two night visit to the area – not on this itinerary, we’re letting all of the secrets out of the bag.

The rides will feature – AdH, Col de la Croix de Fer, Col du Glandon, Col de Sarenne, Col de Solude, Col d’Ornon…..  if you still want more, there is so much more we can and will serve up around these parts

Five nights at the base of Le Geant de Provence – Mt Ventoux.

Riding in Provence cannot be missed off the Ultimate Tour.  Vineyards, lavender fields, blue skies, Provençal markets, deep gorges and the teasing sight of Mt Ventoux.  There is everything to love about Provence.  We know the secret gems of this area and are so excited to show them off.  We cannot spend time here and not offer the opportunity to tackle the Ventoux Triple – all three sides of this beast in one day!

The rides will feature Mt Ventoux (from Bedoin, Malaucene and Sault), Gorges de la Nesque, Vineyard loops (Gigondas, Séguret, Sablet), lavender fields of Sault and our favourite back roads of the Vaucluse.

Three nights in the home of the pro riders – Girona.

A name that has become an iconic base of pro cyclists, particularly from the English speaking parts of the world – Girona.  As soon as you wander the cobbled streets of old town Girona you will be embraced by its charm.  The cafe and restaurant scene is next level and a great insight into why so many riders choose to call this place ‘home’.  By the way – there are a couple of awesome rides on the cards as well, after all, that is why we are here.

The final tour rides will feature the Costa Brava and the most famous test loops of the rolling hills around Girona.
