We welcome you to the home of blue skies, vineyards, lavender fields, historic villages and one huge mountain – Le Geant de Provence, Mt Ventoux. We’ll pick you up from Avignon TGV station then ease into riding with a quiet evening ride over a short climb that is the staple diet of local riders. On day two things take on a movie set flavour with a day in the Luberon Valley and a special lunch stop. We spend day three like a lion circling it’s prey. Yes, Ventoux is right there, but we’ll circle around it before we tackle it. Day four is the big one – Ventoux – one, two or all three sides? You choose! Our final day in Provence is spent enjoying some of the stunning hidden gems this area has to offer. Day six is our rest day with a transfer across the border to Girona, Spain.
As soon as you arrive in Girona you realise why so many pro’ riders call this place home. The atmosphere, the cafes, the restaurants, the history – it’s easy to forget we’re here for the best bit – the riding! Day seven to nine is spent exploring the best Girona has to offer – Els Angels climb, Roccacorba climb, Lake Banyoles, the best coffee in Europe and riding the training routes of the professionals. Day ten we ride to the Mediterranean – and what a beautiful ride it is to our hotel on the beach.
This is one special spot. The hardest thing to do over the next three days is drag yourself away from the stunning beach front hotel – there is plenty of evening time to enjoy it. We spend the next two days indulging in the ultimate summer riding. You’ll be cruising your way along the twisting cliff top roads of the Costa Brava above the Mediterranean Sea. The engineers that planned these roads were clearly cycling enthusiasts – they created the perfect stage for dancing on those pedals. Day thirteen will have you planning the return trip as we transfer you to the drop off at Barcelona Airport.
Each Kiwi Style Bike Tour has a full ride itinerary, which includes shorter ride options where practicable. We provide an atmosphere where no ride is compulsory and can advise which rides to shorten to ensure you enjoy all of the features of this tour. We have the experience and knowledge of the areas to make changes and adjustments to the scheduled rides based on short and long term weather conditions. We aim to accommodate the needs and abilities of all riders in each group and will recommend changes accordingly.
We have a limited amount of Scott full carbon (or equivalent) road bikes for hire.
The price for a Provence-Spain Tour bike hire is $580.00
The Provence-Spain Tour has a 3 star difficulty rating. Ventoux presents a massive challenge for any cyclist, however most other rides are over medium intensity climbs and rolling terrain. You don’t need to be a racer but you will need to have a good standard of fitness to enjoy this tour.
This tour has one full rest day scheduled in the itinerary – but remember no rides are compulsory.
Airfares, travel insurance and meals unless indicated.
The Provence – Spain Tour is limited to a maximum of 12 people.
